When Frank Lozano stumbles upon a body on an elevator roof, he suspects either the mob or dirty police officers may be involved in another case of pointless violence. By the time little clues are available, it gradually becomes obvious there is something sinister going on. He immediately puts his team of investigators into action to get to the bottom of the mysterious murder before chaos ensues, but what he is unaware of is the interest certain concerned players have developed in his latest assignment and just how motivated they are to make sure he does not solve this case. Only time will tell who comes out on top in The Lozano Boys Book 1: All Those Masks by S.R. Mallery.
The Lozano Boys Book 1 is the first in the series that promises many adventures. S.R. Mallery does a stunning job of translating 1920s America onto paper in this one-of-a-kind plot. It is noteworthy to mention that she goes so far as to include the slang and mannerisms associated with that era in the story, which gives it a touch of authenticity and immerses the reader in this intriguing story. Her principal characters are adequately fleshed out with a touch of the good, the bad, and the ugly featuring prominently in their backgrounds. The subplots feel complicated yet solid enough to create individual stories capable of standing alone. The best part of this interesting novel has to be the way Mallery incorporates multiple characters into seemingly unrelated subplots while maintaining the tempo of the story using nifty clues that weave them all together. With its impressive cast of characters and solid story, it's obvious Mallery is onto something big with The Lozano Boys Book 1: All Those Masks. I enjoyed reading this adventure, and I look forward to the sequel.
