The Messenger is the first novel in the Messenger Series by Janice Reneau Clendennen. Sarah Shaw, a Christian/Jew, used to be a fashion model, but now she was an advocate for the victims of human trafficking and could receive messages from HaShem. Sarah met Prime Minister Natan Shafir when she was in Jerusalem to speak at a conference and that was when HaShem asked Sarah to pass on a message to the Prime Minister. Sarah tried and failed to make an appointment several times before, but finally, she was able to do what she was told by the Lord. Sarah told Natan that his life was in danger and someone close to him had turned against him. Before they knew it, Sarah and Natan were running from vicious men who were hellbent on killing Natan and destroying Israel. However, Natan and Sarah had the Lord behind them, and the Lord made it very clear He wanted to protect those who protected his country.

I have to be honest; I don’t know much about the Jewish religion and how a person can be both Christian and Jewish at the same time (maybe it comes down to the faith and belief of the said person). The Messenger by Janice Reneau Clendennen proved to be educational and as well as entertaining. Sarah’s character was very strong and determined. She had faith in HaShem and was prepared to do whatever it took to fulfill her duty. I loved the action and the intensity of the situation. Natan Shafir’s character was calculating and very observant. He wanted to get to the bottom of things while trying to stay alive. The dialogues reflected the gravity of the situation, the twists and turns were important, and the overall feel of the story was tense. This novel is a fantastic start to a series that will get a lot of traction.

I loved this book! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. It was quite a thrill ride. I laughed, I cried, I even cheered. The main characters were fascinating. I can't wait for the sequel!
