The Molossus of Old Man Moyer is a gripping horror story by Joe Lyon. Jimmy Myer, a transport driver, unexpectedly hits a dog on the road while on the way to deliver the body of a powerful but deceased psychic. The dog named Belky turns out to be from an extinct breed. Jimmy ends up taking its body to the home of its owner, Colman Moyer, a reclusive billionaire with a terrible secret. The Molossus provides its host with a massive fortune in exchange for their violent death, and Moyer wants to avoid that fate by using Jimmy as the sacrifice. Meanwhile, Detective Artemis Blackwell is investigating the case of three missing people, leading him to seek help from another psychic who directs him to the Moyer manor. Will Blackwell be able to solve the mystery, and at what cost?
Joe Lyon offers horror aficionados an absolute page-turner with The Molossus of Old Man Moyer. Captivating from start to finish, there isn't a single moment in the entire book when you aren't feeling either tense or thrilled by what's happening. There are some Gothic horror elements integrated into the narrative, and it builds an atmosphere of tension and dread you can't help getting immersed in. The plot is full of twists and turns, with unexpected reveals that add to the lore and mystery of the work. The array of characters is large, but the author ensures that everyone has distinct traits and personalities that will leave an impression on the reader. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it to readers who love horror or supernatural thrillers.
