The Northwest Deception is a work of fiction in the conspiracy thriller, action, and suspense genres, and is the first novel in the Deception Chronicles. The work is best suited to mature readers owing to references to suicide, violence, torture, and mild sexual content. Penned by author S.K. Johnston, this is a suspenseful tale where Dr. Kate Sinclair, a psychologist, and Dr. Samantha Mitchell, a biologist, become entangled in a web of government cover-ups and mysterious dreams. A chance encounter leads to romance and a fight for survival as they confront deceit, manipulation, and hidden agendas, navigating a treacherous landscape where reality and illusion blur.

Author S.K. Johnston has crafted an immersive novel that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, with skillful storytelling and vivid descriptions that brought the Pacific Northwest setting to life, enhancing the atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. The dynamic between Kate and Sam was compelling, their romance shifting with dynamic dialogue and a heartfelt emotional arc as they faced formidable adversaries and grappled with the shattered reality around them. The work was incredibly well-paced, never giving too much away at once, with some very satisfying and totally logical twists that were still hard to predict. The unraveling conspiracy and thrilling cat-and-mouse chase kept me guessing until the final pages and the emotional stakes were high as the protagonists fought for their lives and sanity. Overall, The Northwest Deception is a gripping start to the Deception Chronicles, promising an enthralling journey through a world of deception and danger and I cannot wait to read more of it.
