Author Biography

About the Author: Rod Lewin was born in Brisbane, Australia. His acclaimed autobiography, Steel Spine, Iron Will, wherein he narrates his recovery from paralysis after a near-fatal plane crash, has been in constant demand for over two decades. Rod has spent the last thirty-five years as a professional aviator. He has experienced all manner of adventure as a true “knight of the air,” from operating seaplanes on the Great Barrier Reef, the far outback of Western Australia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Greece, to airline flying in DC-3s, 727s, and 737s in the U.S. The Port Havannah Paradox, the third in the series, is based on some of his own astonishing exploits.

In The Port Havannah Paradox by Rod Lewin, Blaine and Beyer, two incredibly skilled and adventurous friends, save the life of a Mexican girl mercilessly tossed out of a low-flying aircraft while at their isolated retreat at Apache Lake, Arizona. But they have to face the consequences of their action, a form of retribution from the same gang that threw the girl out of the aircraft. Beyer is wounded in the ensuing fight and while the two decide to head back to Australia, they are thrust into another exciting adventure, something they never could have bargained for. The excitement is just starting.

Rod Lewin has created an adventure that will take readers on an exciting ride with two awesome characters. I loved the connection between Blaine and Beyer and how they complement each other. The setting is wonderful, featuring breathtaking geographic locations like the Vanuatu in the South Pacific, the island of Efate, and great historic features. The plot is action-driven, featuring an interesting conflict. I enjoyed the surprising turns in the plot and the fact that things hardly go as planned for the characters. The Port Havannah Paradox is written in very clear and beautiful prose, well-polished and accessible. The first person narrative style comes so naturally to the author and readers are pulled in from the very start of the story by the compelling voice. There is a lot to savor in this exciting story, including the conflict that escalates pretty fast, the fascinating characters, the awesome writing that features great descriptions and dialogues, and the fast-paced, entertaining plot.
