Seven years ago Lara Church had narrowly escaped becoming the Seattle Strangler's last victim. She recovers and chooses to be anonymous, moving to Austin, Texas, where she lives quietly with her German Shepherd, Lincoln, in a home she inherits from her grandmother. Men and the social scene understandably no longer appeal to Lara. She found an old one hundred fifty year old bellows camera and travels around the United States photographing crime scenes. Lara's cousin Cassidy is featuring Lara's photographs in her gallery but will there be consequences? The Seattle Strangler has not killed anyone in those seven years, but suddenly he or a copycat begins their brutal, horrific killings once again. Young blond-haired women are being murdered in the Austin area. Each is raped, strangled and then dressed in a simple white cotton gown. Texas Ranger James Beck is troubled by these murders and would rather be working on car repairs with his grandfather. Beck and fellow Texas Ranger Santos begin investigating and are joined by former Seattle policeman, Mike Raines, who now runs a detective agency. The Austin victims all have an old penny in their hands as did the Seattle victims of years past. But the police never revealed this information, so what is going on?
