The Shivering Sunbeam by Winslow E. Dixon is a stunning children's book about a young sunbeam named Addy. Addy is born without the spark, meaning that she couldn't share warmth. She was cold, even though she was bright and beautiful. Addy was a sick sunbeam, always feeling cold, and not as strong as the others due to her lack of the spark. The other sunbeams teased her because of her differences. One day, a mysterious blue beam named Nelly appeared on the sun. The sunbeams teased him. But then he met Addy and the two became fast friends. But soon he had to go, and Addy discovers that he doesn't live on the sun, and he isn't a sunbeam. What is Nelly?

I really enjoyed reading The Shivering Sunbeam by Winslow E. Dixon. The book is very well written and descriptive. The story is creative and heartwarming, because Addy eventually finds a purpose in life. I like the font the story was written in, because it seems to match the theme of the book. The characters are likeable, because Addy and Nelly are both very kind, and Nelly helps Addy find a purpose. People will be able to relate to Addy, because many people have been bullied. I liked that the book had a happy ending, because it was nice to know that Addy would never be bullied again. The story is well developed and well thought out. I would definitely recommend this to all young readers.
