The Singing Shore I: Sea and Song (The Zemnian Series Book 5) is a work of fiction in the fantasy and adventure subgenres, and it forms the latest novel in the expansive Zemnian Series of books. It is suitable for both mature young adult and adult readers alike and was penned by E. P. Clark. It is narrated in audiobook format by its author and takes readers once more into Clark’s Finnish-inspired fantasy world for another magical adventure. We follow protagonist Dasha as she suffers from severe changes to her chaotic magical gifts, searching for a new source of power and an end to the tensions between her land and the warring neighbors, the Rusti.

In terms of the construction of The Singing Shore I, it’s clear that E. P. Clark has developed a successful formula for delivering superb action, romance, and adventure subplots that thread together seamlessly against the backdrop of this gorgeously atmospheric world. I particularly enjoyed the emotional resonance of Dasha’s journey as the narrative gives us a closer insight into the battle between her head and her heart.

Regarding its audio presentation, E. P. Clark is one of those rare authors who can convey the wide variety of emotions and characterizations necessary to bring such an expansive series to life. I also found the editing and mastering quality to be crisp and clear, all of which further enhance the novel’s storyline. I would not hesitate to recommend The Singing Shore I to fans of the existing series and newcomer fantasy enthusiasts alike.
