It all started with air hostess Jen Hae Chu, alias Jenny, expertly wrestling a hostile passenger aboard the same flight as FBI agent Dave Kamakaris. Before Jenny knew it, she was a rookie FBI agent working on an undercover operation with Dave. They were investigating a Boeing engineer, Charles Liu, suspected of leaking highly classified information to Beijing. The arrival of a Chinese Ministry of State Security (MSS) defector agent Yichen made the Liu case even more intriguing. However, things got complicated when Dave and Jenny, who had fallen head over heels for each other, broke up and Jenny’s intel on the Liu case was compromised. With a baby on the way, Jenny uncovered the Chinese government’s evil plans for America and met her twin brother whom she had never known about. Will Yichen help the same government that murdered his father achieve its long-intended goal of controlling the US? Get yourself Joan M. Kop’s The Spy from Beijing to discover more.
If you are looking for a fast-paced espionage thriller laced with a gripping tale of love, heartbreak, deceit, secrets, blackmail, power, espionage, betrayal, loyalty, murder, double agents, traitors, bureaucrats, and operatives, Joan M. Kop’s The Spy from Beijing is a must-read. It treated me to edge-of-my-seat suspense with ingenious plot twists, wit, and adventure. With exciting action right from the start, the author weaves an intriguing plot, featuring a diverse and fascinating group of role-players. The evocative depictions brought Seattle and Beijing to life colorfully, dropping me right in the middle of all the action. The reading experience felt like watching a Hollywood spy movie and I would love to see it on the big screen. The description of the protagonist’s complex emotions and qualities felt authentic, which allowed me to connect with them. This is a magnificent piece of work and I loved it.
