Author Biography

I live with my partner and our 2 dogs in the Philadelphia area. The Tea Drinker's Guide to Adventure is my first novel. Previously I was a corporate communications manager, and public relations manager for a variety of non-profits.

I wanted to tell a story about 3 women in their prime years, striving to live life to the fullest and being open to the possibilities around them. There are dogs in the story since I love dogs (I have a three-legged rescue dog who is a certified therapy dog), along with plenty of romance, adventure, humor and tea.

When Alice succumbed to cancer, her final request to her friends entailed spreading her ashes in the Ghost Ranch of New Mexico. To fulfill this wish, Cathy, Linda, and Betsy decide to take a road trip in an RV. Driving an RV might be a tad troubling when you are in your sixties, but the trio is determined to enjoy every moment of this journey. However, when they meet a wounded stray dog one night, they need to alter their course. The women must visit the nearby RV park to get the little dog checked by the resident vet. However, once they settle down in the park and befriend the community, a series of unforeseen events follow. Read The Tea Drinker’s Guide to Adventure, a novel by Andrée Jannette, to learn what happens to the three friends.

The novel evoked a gentle, soothing feeling right from the first page. Jannette’s ‘showing not telling’ approach to establish the characters made them quite endearing. I loved the mutual affection Cathy, Linda, and Betsy shared, each ready to do their best for the others. At the same time, I admired how they gave each other space and respected their decisions. The loving community at the RV park, especially the ever-patient Ben and the ever-helpful Alfreda, were simply the best. Throughout the story, Jannette showed how our non-human friends bring us unconditional love. Jannette’s portrayals of various age-related issues and the associated uncertainties tugged at my heart. Yet, the novel also showed how age could be less of a constraint if we have supportive friends to see us through life’s ordeals.

Andrée Jannette’s book conveyed the profound message that age was never a boundary in love or friendship. You could easily form lifelong bonds or feel the excitement of new love at a mature age. The novel contains epic adventures and humorous misadventures, and it is up to the reader to determine which is which. From harrowing life-and-death situations to refreshing naps and hearty meals, The Tea Drinker’s Guide to Adventure seems to cover everything. Reading this wholesome, comforting book was like sipping a warm cup of tea at the end of an exhausting day.

Cathy, Betsy, Linda, and Alice are friends who found a common interest in books. When the book club they shared veered off on a different path, they broke away and created a club of their own. Half a year later and their club has grown much faster than they anticipated. With this success comes tragedy as Alice succumbs to cancer. Her three surviving friends set out to honor her final request that her ashes be scattered at a ranch in New Mexico. They hire an RV and embark on a road trip filled with adventure and lessons to learn from life in Andree Jannette's The Tea Drinker's Guide To Adventure.

The Tea Drinker's Guide To Adventure by Andree Jannette is an unusual story in the sense that the principal characters which the storyline is built around are in their autumn years but are experiencing adventures I find more familiar with youth. The story may be fictional but the details are quite realistic especially when you focus on some of the daily struggles the ladies go through. Betsy's description of her ordeal with Parkinson's disease struck a chord with me. The blossoming romantic subplot between Cathy and Peter is a refreshing deviation from the order of the day. The Tea Drinker's Guide To Adventure is a complete paradigm shift from what I would expect of an adventure story. Its lovely subplots are populated by characters as diverse as they are interesting, fluidly coming together to create the perfect reading experience for all ages.

The Tea Drinker's Guide to Adventure by Andrée Jannette is a contemporary drama novel about three women who take a road trip of a lifetime. Linda Smith, Cathy Rosen, and Betsy Flynn are three friends in their mid-60s who set off on a road trip in an RV to spread their deceased friend's ashes in New Mexico. However, a dog's fortuitous dash in front of their RV takes their trip in a direction none of them could have foreseen. Eager to heal the injured dog, the three friends arrive at Ben Arden's RV park, where the community welcomes them with open arms. As Linda, Betsy, and Cathy are forced to spend time in the park, they learn the meaning of friendship, love, and life all over again.

A slice-of-life drama filled with romance, intrigue, and action, The Tea Drinker's Guide to Adventure is a book you don't want to miss. Andrée Jannette's heartwarming novel perfectly demonstrates that age is just a number and that you're never too old to have adventures with your friends, fall in love, or enjoy the company of animals. Linda, Cathy, and Betsy's camaraderie and friendship are the prime focus of the narrative. Each of them has their own inner struggles, which they learn to overcome together. In addition, Cathy and Peter have amazing chemistry, and romance lovers are bound to enjoy their scenes together. The plot is somewhat of a slow burn as the narrative is mostly character-driven. Overall, a moving adventure story about friendship where readers will find plenty to love.
