To avoid stressful situations children need to identify and control their emotions. That is why they should learn to meditate and reflect on their moods. In this way, they will be able to lead a more tranquil life and improve their level of attention. After reading The Whirlpool of My Emotions, children will understand how to act. A little boy with strong emotions tells the story. Sometimes his emotions are as big as a storm in which everything goes black. He describes his negative emotions, but he also knows that he has the power to control himself. He shares his method of calming down and the process he follows to feel at peace. Chloe Galmes shows that although emotions can be strong, they are all internal, and it is up to oneself to deal with them and relax.
The Whirlpool of My Emotions is perfect for parents and teachers to teach children the importance of meditation. Chloe Galmes teaches children how to relax when they are alone and facing a problem or unfamiliar situation. The story is fun and helps to identify various emotions through short and concrete sentences. I liked the images because they were simple and expressive. The backgrounds symbolize the emotions perfectly with figures like a dragon, a tornado, or even sand to mirror the child's feelings. I think that children need to learn to identify their emotions and, in particular, control them. They will realize that any situation can be more tolerable if they have the right attitude, and that's why I recommend this book.
