There’s a Robot in Our Class is a delightful children’s picture book written by Moataz Abo Mokh with illustrations by Yasser Elgazzar. Siblings Amir and Naya cannot wait to get back to school after a long break. They have got their uniforms ready, backpacks packed, and are all set for a fresh start. But nothing prepares them for what is waiting: their principal announces that every teacher has been replaced by a robot. Nobody really knows what to make of it. Parents and kids are all skeptical, but they decide to go along with it. By the end of the first day, it is clear things are not quite the same. The kids miss their old teachers and want them back. The school brings in a new system, and this time, learning with robots actually feels better—students start connecting more and realize that having robots in school may not be such a bad idea.

There’s a Robot in Our Class is not just an entertaining story about returning to school, but also an educational tale about the integration of AI and robots in the school system. It is very obvious that AI is revolutionizing the world, and many industries are benefiting from it. This story prompts readers to reflect on whether they would prefer robots as teachers. It also celebrates teachers, pointing out the importance of simple human interactions like warm hugs and genuine love that they provide, and that kids need in their development. Moataz Abo Mokh gives children’s viewpoints on technological changes and reminds us that people and robots do not have to be at odds. If anything, they can help each other. The writing is very engaging, as the story has an unpredictable plot and covers a unique concept that is vital for our future. I loved the illustrations because they are vibrant and cartoon-like; this made the scenes and characters look alive. I truly enjoyed this book and think it is needed for students, parents, teachers, and education policymakers, as it will guide them in implementing advanced technology in schools.
