The Wronged Princess – Book 1 was written by Kae Elle Wheeler as a grown-up Cinderella fairy tale. The story follows the one we have been told as children but adds some adult twists and turns. Cinderella still gets to go to the ball, thanks to her fairy godmother and she still loses a shoe at midnight, but then the once upon a time plot changes quickly. We, the readers, share the real thoughts of Cinderella, her step-mother and step-sisters, the prince, and his scheming mother. Fairy Godmother plays an interesting role and I was pleasantly surprised by her several times throughout the story. Prince Charming searches the village for the girl of his dreams but the result isn’t what he hoped for or expected. When Cinderella and her step-family spend a week at the castle there are many surprises in store for each of them, some good, some funny, and some bad.

I do not think anyone will be disappointed when reading The Wronged Princess if they believe make-believe can meet true life. Kae Elle Wheeler has done a great job in joining together the two elements of reality and fantasy. I found myself sometimes liking the characters and sometimes being really annoyed with them, but always happy with the outcomes. Cinderella was always one of my favorite stories as a little girl and after reading The Wronged Princess, I feel as though the story is now complete in a whole new way. This is a light, refreshing, fun book and well worth the read. I am anxiously awaiting Kae Elle Wheeler’s second book in this series.
