They're Not Here to Save Us is a work of fiction in the dystopian, post-apocalyptic, and adventure subgenres. It is suitable for mature teen and adult readers alike. In this book penned by author M.P. Kidd, we are introduced to a gripping post-apocalyptic tale that immerses readers in a world of chaos and uncertainty. In a ravaged future, the remnants of humanity struggle to survive, and the mysterious Recruits, rumored to possess magical powers, cast a shadow of fear and hope. The story follows Catch-It, a young wanderer with a burning desire for survival and a mission to reunite with his sister. Along the way, he encounters Penny, a determined survivalist, and together, they embark on a journey that reveals the unsettling truth about the Recruits.
Author M.P. Kidd offers a detailed and imaginative dystopian narrative that explores themes of power, control, and the consequences of blind obedience in a lawless world. The author's world-building is especially vivid in the earlier portions of the tale when we need it most, and the characters are well-developed, making it easy to connect with their struggles and choices. The narrative keeps you on the edge of your seat, constantly questioning the intentions of the enigmatic Recruits. As Catch-It and Penny navigate danger and deception, you find yourself pondering the complexities of morality and resistance, and their struggles become your own. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend They're Not Here to Save Us as a compelling read for fans of post-apocalyptic fiction and moral dilemmas.
