This Kind Goes Not Except by Fasting and Prayers by Henry Appiah-Korang Duodu is a thought-provoking Christian devotional. The book derives its name from the words of Jesus in the Gospel according to Mark 9:29. The author uses various portions of scripture from both the Old and the New Testaments to expound on the importance of fasting and prayers. Regularly fasting and praying to God strengthens us in the Christian faith and is not a practice that Christians should neglect. Christians face opposition from demonic powers in every area of life, and this book shares key information on how to fight back.

As a believer in Christ Jesus, I am glad that I read This Kind Goes Not Except by Fasting and Prayers by Henry Appiah-Korang Duodu. I liked that this book was short enough to be read in one sitting. I appreciate that Henry draws all of his points from the Holy Bible. Almost every page includes a biblical excerpt. He encourages believers to read the scriptures and see what God says about fasting and prayer. I am glad that there were no denominational doctrines sprinkled into the text. Additionally, I enjoyed the focus on the theme of spiritual warfare. He exposes how many of our problems stem from spiritual attacks. I was motivated to put on the whole armor of God and fight the good fight of faith. In summary, I highly recommend this devotional to fellow Christians looking to understand fasting and prayer.
