Today I Learned About Birds by Cheryl Johnson is a beautiful and fascinating book that introduces children to the wonderful and exciting world of birding. While this book contains photos of many different species of birds, there is no way it can show the over 1,200 different species that live in the United States. That is a lot of different types of birds and will give the young reader many hours of enjoyment looking for the various species that live in their area. Cheryl explains everything a young birder needs to know concerning birds including where they live, their various habitats and ecosystems, tools used in birding, descriptions of some of the more common birds, how to look for birds, and many more useful facts. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is beyond great!
