Four sisters and their crazy lives, Toots by Linh Le James is the story of Jess, Louise, Carla, and Emily. Jess and Scott are married and have two adorable young daughters and Jess is your typical mom. Exhausted by caring for the kids and working full time, she believes Scott has an easy life and may even be cheating on her. Louise has her sights on a man who can show her the type of life she deserves; glamour and style are her watchwords and she will do anything to bag him! Emily has been seeing a real douche-bag called Leo and her flatmate Lola is doing her best to convince her to drop him. She wants Emily to find her inner Khaleesi and get back on the market. Carla, meanwhile, has been waiting for over a decade for Ben to propose. She has a successful career and all the trappings that accompany it, but Ben will not commit.

Toots is the name used to describe a group of friends you can always rely on, sisters from another mister. Linh Le James has written a delightfully witty book about four sisters and their toots! Beginning each chapter with a different cocktail is genius and sets the tone of the book beautifully. I loved following the girls' lives and if you enjoy a dumping ceremony with a voodoo penis involved, then you will love this book too! Funny and feisty, this book is filled with steamy scenes and hilarious encounters. The characters don’t just jump off the page; they leap right into your life, grab you by the hand, and take you on a journey you will not forget. I am eagerly awaiting more adventures of the toots and even more tasty cocktail recipes!

What a fun weekend I had reading Toots! It’s not only laugh out loud adorable, but the relationship between the four sisters, Carla, Louise, Jess and Emily is enviable and relatable.

The chapters that give individual insight into each woman’s life really help you get to know them, and feeling part of a character’s life is one of my favorite parts of reading. The opening chapter in the bathroom had me laughing and crying as I imagined what it would be like in that situation, but it wasn’t until the book’s end that you find out which sister was in the precarious position.

There are hunky guys, pure jerks and everything in between vying for the love and attention of the four sisters and I’ll leave it to you to pick your favorites. I know who I’m rooting for, and hopefully Ms. James feels the same way!

I must admit that in the very beginning I wasn’t sure I could decipher the U.K. vernacular, but within a few pages I was total London girl, and wanting to be someone’s Toots. And in case you don’t know, Wikipedia says a Toots is a Babe, sweetie, bestie or sister. How fun is that?

If you’re looking for a feel good book that will leave you yearning for more, Toots is for you. And that yearning for more? Toots 2 releases this year!

So grab your cocktail shaker, you’re going to want it, and get ready for a rip roaring good time with four lovely, looney, ladies.
