Travel in Peace: The Soundtrack of My Escape by Rod Harris is the author's story and throws light on him as a person, lyricist, musician, husband and father. It is an uplifting story that sees the author healing his life and finding inner peace by using his spiritual compass. The author also speaks about the various aspects and phases of his life and how he followed the advice of his therapist and started to channel his thoughts into music without losing his focus and listening to other distracting advice. The important role played by music in the author's life is evident from the story and his travel in peace is indeed a motivation to all readers.
The author takes readers through the various stages of his journey: his parents, his early life, schooling, his connection with the church, and how his music slowly started to take off when he reached high school. The author's personal journey is uplifting and motivating for readers because it tells them how music helped to overcome his depression. There are a few lyrics scattered through the book which give a glimpse into the author's musical talents and his writing skills. The author has also shared many of his photos, which helps in relating to his family and life.
What I really found uplifting in the story is the way the author sees God in his music. That takes the book to another level and gives it another dimension altogether.
