Trouble in Loveland by Jennifer Peel is a contemporary romance that takes a woman back to her hometown of Loveland, Colorado. When Charlee is seventeen, she has a naïve crush on Ryan, her next door neighbor. When Ryan gets married, Charlee feels like her life is over. That is, until her parents divorce and the world around her spins out of control. Fast forward eight years, when Charlee's father offers her a job in his company. She'd have to move back home and deal with not only her estranged father, but also the hunky man next door she fell in love with so many years ago.
Ryan is recently divorced and struggling to find balance as a single dad. He remembers Charlee as the young girl that she was, not the beautiful woman that she has blossomed into. They have so much history together that the pair is drawn to one another, but can they overcome their life's obstacles to find true happiness? Does an eight-year age difference really matter? And when Ryan's ex-wife comes into the picture, it complicates the blossoming relationship to the point that might just poison the bud.
This is a good, clean, funny story that romance lovers will appreciate and fall in love with, the same way Ryan and Charlee fall in love. Ryan is a great character because he personifies a man that most readers know and love: a good father, attractive, well-off, sweet spoken, and yet not ready to commit emotionally to a relationship that just might make his life worth living. Great characters and very cute story worth the read!
