Twinkle by SJ Parkinson introduces us to the richest man in the world who wants to have a 4th of July like he has never had before. He wants to get his name into the record books and to do so he decides to put on a global fireworks show that is staged from orbit. After he puts on this amazing show, however, people begin to lose their sight, governments collapse and society turns into little more then a rabble. Those few who retain their vision work hard to find the cure before an invading power takes over.

This book has a lot of layers to it and I feel that on the first pass you may miss a few things, but that is okay because the book is truly an awesome one! I enjoyed every page and following the path that humanity must take after the affliction takes over. Can any of us imagine dealing with the whole planet going blind? Everything falling into chaos? The plot felt like an onion you keep peeling back, bit by little bit, and you uncover something new. The characters are interesting and they also keep you reading. I applaud SJ Parkinson for this work and I look forward to reading more from this author. If you are looking for a book that you will want to read more than once, this is going to be the book for you. I highly recommend Twinkle for a book to curl up with and enjoy on any day.
