Tyranny Reborn by Daniel Greenwell is a tantalizing tale of greed, political corruption, and reckless ambition. It follows an MI5 agent, Max Reed, on an undercover mission to get vials of a virus that has the potential to decimate the entire country. The British Isles is in imminent danger and the threat is happening at a time when the population is fast losing hope in the government. The government also receives humiliating blows in a military campaign to rid Iraq of an authoritarian leader. Counter-terrorism Director Joshua Price and his team are at their wits' end in how to deal with the sinister games, lies, and misleading moves from those that should be of help as they go from one disappointing lead to the next. Can they stop the threat before it is too late?

This is a political thriller with a strong conflict and rock-solid characters, including powerful members of government and organizations like the UN, tough terrorist leaders, the media, and members of military organizations. Readers will be keen on following a prime minister who is quickly losing his grip on his government. While this is a work of fiction, readers will relate to the story as it is filled with realism, with scenes that are close to our experience of the current pandemic. The writing is wonderful, the prose crisp, with descriptions and images that are not just compelling but close to the human reality of pain, despair, and fear. Tyranny Reborn is witty, something that readers will enjoy in the midst of gloomy times, and hugely entertaining.
