In Un-Adoptable: Faith Beyond Foster Care, Janelle Molony shares an unfiltered part of her life that started after she and her husband, Ryan, decided to adopt a child. While some of her issues with the adoption process appeared completely normal, a lot of protocols did not sound acceptable. The adoption agency investigated the past and the present of Ryan and Janelle with a fine-tooth comb. When the previous foster home of the seven-year-old Steven, his own extended family, could not (or would not) take care of him, the agency assigned the child to Ryan and Janelle. One look at Steven was all it took for Ryan to fall in love with the child. Nevertheless, Janelle did not share the same level of affection instantly. At the time, they did not know the level of issues Steven had. ADHD, Reactive Attachment Disorder, food insecurity, visual processing disorder were among a long list of the issues that Steven was struggling with. Even so, as foster parents, they were not granted full legal rights to manage his medical care.
Janelle Molony's frustration seeps through each page of Un-Adoptable: Faith Beyond Foster Care. It takes superhuman strength to take care of a child whose brutal past has left him scarred for life. Or, perhaps, all it takes is an unwavering faith in God. "Parents who studied their children instead of fearing or judging became vastly equipped to raise them successfully." Indeed, vastly equipped she had become! Readers will commend Janelle Molony for sharing her darkest moments and thoughts as a parent. Undoubtedly, Un-Adoptable: Faith Beyond Foster Care by Janelle Molony will prepare any prospective adoptive parents for the future.
