The latest urban fantasy novel from Rachel Dacus is Undoing Time which is the third installment in the Timegathering series. The book focuses on the adventures of Liv Pomeroy as she uses her ability to move through time to achieve her perfect life, a goal which goes awry when her peeking into the future shows her the adultery that her husband-to-be will one day commit. Immediately the concepts behind the story hook readers in as Liv’s relationship with her powers are a relatable fantasy that many of us can relate to and the cause of her heartbreak is a refreshingly original take on the jilted lover.
Soon after leaving her life behind to heal her heart, Liv encounters Tom Royland, a fellow time traveler who is as charming as he is liberating. The romance that follows is exciting and dynamic as Liv and Tom’s budding romance takes them back into the 1700s, an era lavishly portrayed by Rachel Dacus’ exquisite descriptive writing that brings the era back to life. The tale that comes from these exciting characters dancing around their feelings in such an evocative setting is a sweeping romantic adventure. It is a perfect twist on the time-travel formula and feeds back into the characterization as it pushes Liv and Tom to develop and grow dynamically and organically as Undoing Time’s plot unfolds. A gorgeous romance wrapped in an exciting adventure across time, I recommend this book to romance readers looking for fresh original ideas excellently delivered.
