A few pampered pooches and two parrots keep her company while they stand guard against writer's block. In her spare time she reads, hangs out with friends and family, watches movies, plays guitar, and indulges her inner Foodie in the kitchen and by chowing down at cool restaurants. Valentino, Be Mine by Tina D.C. Hayes is a quirky, funny tale centred on Valentino, a tiny teacup Yorkshire terrier. Valentino might be small, but he has an enormous impact on the people around him. Kaylee Rose has known Valentino’s owner, Pamela, for a while. Kaylee often takes care of the little dog when his owner travels, so they are very comfortable with one another. When Pamela decides she can no longer care for Valentino, she offers him to two folk she trusts. They will be on trial for a month to determine which one will become the new owner. This could be an easy transition, but it is complicated when Kaylee is introduced to the other party. Carter Hartley. Kaylee considers him to be a vulgar, pretentious gigolo. Definitely not fit to take care of Valentino. The trial begins, amid much frustration and doubt on Kaylee’s part. What ensues is a tug-of-war between the two, with a tiny dog as the prize.

The journey to the end of the month makes for some very testy transactions between the two adults, while the tiny pooch gets the best of both worlds. They are, after all, being measured on their worthiness to provide a good home to the little dog. Dog lovers would certainly find this book delightful, as supposedly sane adults vie for ownership of the testy four-legged creature. Their lives are definitely changed. I found the story quite light and funny. There is no profanity. No sex or violence. A refreshing read from all angles and a light-hearted look at how much an animal can affect the lives of normally rational people. This is easy to read and lots of fun. Recommended.
