Spring is on the way, and it's time to explore the garden. Walk With Me by Diane Belinfanti introduces the sights and sounds of spring in rhyming text. A little orange cat is the young reader's companion as it ventures out the window into a glorious spring day. A rainbow of flowers is the first delight, followed by various garden creatures. Butterflies, birds, rabbits, squirrels, and deer make an appearance. Signs of new life are abundant as each nook and cranny of the garden is explored. After an eventful morning walk, it's time to return home. Spring, with all its amazing color and burgeoning life, has arrived.

Diane Belinfanti's rhymes work effortlessly in Walk With Me. Two fundamental early literacy skills are found throughout the rich use of language and the sounds and rhythm of the words. The illustrations by Nicole Monahan are soft and sprinkled with vibrant colors. Sharp-eyed young readers will notice that several of the pictures hint at what the next page will reveal. Kids will enjoy finding the little cat on every page. Even if children do not have a garden of their own, they will recognize many of the natural wonders that the author describes. Walk With Me would be a perfect choice to read to kids before they venture out on a spring walk. Diane Belinfanti and Nicole Monahan have captured the warmth and excitement of discovering the return of new life after the cold days of winter. Walk With Me is filled with springtime magic.
