What Am I Gonna Do With You? Hug You! Kiss You! Love You! is the first installment in the Healthy Heart Series by Chad Germany. It is a children's picture book highlighting the importance of unconditional love of parents for their children. The book presents several different scenarios when children should be reassured that they are always loved, like a child having problems going to sleep or one who gets hurt after falling from a tree. The text is simple and easy to understand: “When you’re good and when you’re bad, when you’re happy, when you’re sad, what am I gonna do with you?” Love and gentleness are the book’s key ingredients, delivered in a delightful way that makes its message easy to remember.
Written by Chad Germany and illustrated by Nidhom Bin Muhtadi, What Am I Going To Do With You? is a book that every parent should read to a child. The wordplay is very engaging and the theme is universal. This is a rhyming narrative with an easy-to-follow rhythm that should be read aloud. I find the illustrations very effective in setting the tone and enhancing the message of the book. Without sounding preachy, this is a book with a powerful message delivered in a clear and simple voice. What Am I Going To Do With You? is a reminder to all readers, young and older, that unconditional love is something that we all need. I highly recommend this book to adults and children!
