What Does it Mean to be Free? by Russell Chappell is an inspirational story and guidebook that teaches us what it truly means to be free as a Christian. He begins by discussing where the idea of being free came from, how abstract it is, and how it looks different in everyone's unique lives and circumstances. He talks about the benefits of freedom, which include continuing to better ourselves and finding direction and purpose in life, less stress and worry, better self-esteem, gratitude, and enjoying the present moment. He courageously shares his struggles and triumphs in life, and how he fixed his eyes on Jesus and finally found out what true freedom really is.

What Does it Mean to be Free? by Russell Chappell uses encouraging imagery and metaphors -- just as the Bible often uses them -- to describe his lifelong dream of going skydiving and how it represents to him becoming "as free as a bird." He also describes it as seeing the world from a completely different perspective, both literally and metaphorically. Once you do something as challenging and exciting as skydiving, you begin to worry less about the little things in life. It gave him a sense of appreciation for what he had in life, such as his loving family and the beauty of nature. What a gift to be truly in the present moment, being grateful for what’s in front of you! He learned to fix his eyes on and trust God, who he knew had a perfect plan for him. I highly recommend this book to all those looking for peace, joy, and a beautiful relationship with God.
