An insurance investigator is framed for murder by an unknown enemy in the exciting sleuth mystery, What Doesn't Kill You (A Lauren Beck Crime Novel Book 1) by Donna Huston Murray. Previously Lauren Beck was a cop, but now after surviving a life-threatening disease, she has a new job as an insurance investigator. Corinne, the woman who encouraged and supported Lauren through her treatments, dies a few days before Lauren starts working at the insurance company. Nina, Corinne's daughter, despises Lauren and when she receives an anonymous phone call accusing Lauren of murdering her mother, Nina assaults Lauren at the funeral. Not done there, after the funeral, Nina kicks Lauren out of Corinne's home where Lauren has been living since her illness and convalescence. When checking into a motel, Lauren discovers someone has closed out all of her financial accounts and turned off her phone. Lauren realizes she has rattled the cage of somebody with clout but is unsure whether it is personal or has something to do with insurance fraud or possibly Corinne's death. Homeless, a murder suspect, without phone and funds, and nowhere to go for help, Lauren is determined to find whoever has set her up. Can Lauren catch them before she is arrested?
