Laura Muncie’s What Love Can Do is a children's picture book that parents will welcome into their bedtime rituals. Sharing several examples of how love is manifested in one’s daily life, the book could make a perfect gift for that special young reader. Indeed, what the world needs is love, and Muncie shows that actions demonstrate love in ways that words simply aren’t powerful enough to convey. At times funny, at times sweet, this lyrical story shares the many things that love can do for people and their animal friends. It spans the seasons. Love brings richness to our lives and is essential to creating abundance.
Laura Muncie writes: “Love can fill your soul with sun.” Her examples – from simple gifts to time well spent or kind words spoken – are each thought-provoking and true. The book’s colorful illustrations have the look of classic children’s books, with hand-drawn lines and the coloring of traditional mediums. The people depicted are diverse, which makes this sweet rhyming text a welcome addition to any bookshelf. Picture book lovers who have enjoyed Goodnight Moon will find What Love Can Do to be a wonderful companion. It is sure to be the favorite bedtime selection for caregivers hoping to end the day with a warm feeling. I can picture a child cuddled up with a reader as they relish sharing what love can do each storytime.
