Whisper Wellington Shares A Wish by Colleen M Bratley is the fifth book in The Giving Collection series. Whisper Wellington is a whale who is sweet and lovable. His friend is an adventurous dolphin called Dalilah Daring, and one day the pair visits a sunken ship, but they find more than they bargained for. Treasures galore await them, but so does something strange, something they’ve never seen before. Joined by their friends, they discover what it is. Whisper vows to share their discovery in the hopes that it can bring everyone together to create a better world. What did they discover, and what can they do about it?
Whisper Wellington Shares A Wish by Colleen M Bratley is a cute story with an important message. It’s an invitation for young readers to take a peek at what lies beneath the waves in the hopes that humanity can learn to respect that there’s a whole new world down there that requires protection. This story highlights one of the biggest issues the undersea world faces, and Whisper’s wish is one that we should all be hearing and doing something about. It was nice to see real photos of the animals included with the illustrations, as it helps kids relate better to the story and understand that the incredibly powerful message is real. This is one story that should be a standard part of every child’s reading, be it at school or at home, because this is one of the most important environmental issues we face. Children are our future, and it’s down to them to understand what needs to be done to protect the world. A lovely story, and I hope it gets the intended message across.
