Why Blame the Stars? written by Michael Segedy and narrated by Ellen A. Connor is a romantic mystery with twists and turns that will have you biting your nails. Miles Blake and Zoe Asfah meet and the sparks fly everywhere. It is almost as if fate brought Zoe and Miles together. Believing they will stay together forever, the couple is in for a rude awakening when fate throws them a curveball when they are least expecting it. With friends and strangers coming in and out of their lives, Miles and Zoe plan to face disasters and tragedies together. However, will fate give them the chance?
Narrator Ellen A. Connor’s voice is so soothing and exciting at the same time. I love how she embodies the feel of the narrative and channels the emotions perfectly. I especially like how Ellen narrated Zoe’s dialogues and thoughts. You can tell how considerately and consciously she tried to express the emotions of both protagonists. She keeps the story alive, drums up the suspense, and makes the mystery come to life. Zoe and Miles are both complicated yet very relatable characters. I particularly enjoyed how Miles introduced his good friend David, described their relationship in a few paragraphs, and gave the whole picture just like that. Zoe and Miles’s relationship started soft and sweet. I love meet-cutes, and the bicycle scene was perfect. You can tell that Michael Segedy thought long and hard about his characters before he wrote them down. The twists and turns are unexpected and very hard to guess too (loved that!). This fast-paced audiobook Why Blame the Stars? was a joy to listen to.
