By presenting a broad scope of scientific and spiritual information, Why Is Life by Dennis Gaumond is a journey to enlightenment. Consisting of three books, Gaumond shares his perspective about the universe and the next role for humanity in Book One; Book Two questions and discusses the ruling paradigms that statutes humanity. In Book Three, Gaumond concludes his final thoughts on the discussed topic. “For me, writing this book is a method for moving toward enlightenment – it is a healing tool.” Early in the book, Gaumond was diagnosed with CFIDS or chronic fatigue immune deficiency syndrome and he shares with readers how his efforts to become well again opened a path to a more transcendent life.
Of course, some of us do have questions about the purpose of our existence, but there are times that I feel alone when pondering on the subject. Therefore it is truly enlightening and reassuring to read and share someone else’s questions about life itself. Gaumond is not trying to give all the answers regarding the meaning of life, but shares all the knowledge that he had gathered – old and new, known and unknown – pieces them together, respectfully shares his thoughts and sees where our understanding of human existence and the universe stands so far. Even though I don’t agree with some of his views on certain matters, Why Is Life is an honest and commendable work from Dennis Gaumond, one that I was truly pleased to read. I highly recommend this transcendental piece to anyone that would like to relax from the rigors of life for a while and spend some moments soul-searching.
