Wingman by Michael S. Vassel is the story of a recently divorced man in search of love. Jay McGraw is no longer married. Seeking to take his mind off his divorce with his now ex-wife Kate, Jay joins his happy-go-lucky friend Shawn, a musician, for a night out at a club. Acting as Shawn's loyal wingman, Jay meets Jill, a middle school teacher who also has had her share of bad relationships. Jay and Jill soon develop a growing friendship, teaming up to go to clubs and shows together. In the meantime, Jay starts dating a beautiful woman named Ashley. It doesn't take long for Jay and Ashley to get engaged. Now, Jill has met someone, and she is ready to be married. Moreover, she asks Jay to be her maid of honor.

Wingman is a delightful rom-com novel with plenty of drama. Author Michael S. Vassel weaves a charming tale full of romance, humor, and heart. The dialogue is witty, and some of the character interactions are simply laugh-out-loud hilarious. Vassel paces the plot nicely, which makes the book a breeze to read. Rom-com novels always have a light-hearted tone, and this one is no different. The characters are immensely likable, and I found myself completely invested in their inter-relationship dynamics. Jay and Jill have amazing chemistry. Every time they are on the page together is a joy to read. I also enjoyed the friendships in this book, be it Jay's brotherly bond with Shawn or Jill's friendship with Amber. If you love contemporary romance and comedy, this book will be right up your alley.

Wingman by Michael S. Vassel is about Jay McGraw, a recently divorced man trying to figure out life after his marriage ended. Jay often plays the role of a ''wingman,'' helping his friends with dating, while slowly stepping back into the dating world himself. His best friend is hoping to form a connection of his own, and Jay supports him through it. Jay also meets Jill, another divorcee, and they become close friends who help each other through awkward moments and bad dates. The story shows Jay thinking a lot about his past relationships and what went wrong. He is learning about modern dating while holding onto his true friendships. Through funny and sometimes uncomfortable moments, Jay learns more about himself and what it really means to support others. But will he find true love and the real connection he’s been searching for all his life?

Wingman by Michael S. Vassel is a romantic tale that looks at friendship, post-divorce life, and modern dating. I enjoyed how the book balances serious topics like divorce and loneliness with humor and everyday awkward moments, which makes it enjoyable and relatable. The dialogue drives the story, showing the characters’ personalities and their genuine interactions without over-explaining every scene. Jay's reflections and the decisions he makes help him seem like a real person. I found myself cheering for his friendships and for the way he slowly grows throughout the book. The story reminds me that romance is not the only thing that matters, and shows how important it is to be there for friends. Anyone who has dated or lost someone would likely relate to this story.

Jay had been separated for six months and had just gotten divorced. His feelings are mixed, considering the marriage had lasted five years. After his divorce, Shawn invites him to go out and celebrate. Shawn is a guitarist who has been Jay’s best friend for more than ten years. Once in the club, Shawn wants Jay to be his wingman to approach some women. Jay helps his friend, and eventually Shawn hits it off with Ambrosia, who is Jill’s friend. Jay had been a good wingman since his high school days. Shawn’s relationship with Ambrosia progresses fast while Jay and Jill carry on as friends, with Jay acting as Jill’s wingman on several occasions. As things progress, Shawn and Ambrosia announce they are to be married. How will things unfold in Wingman by Michael S. Vassel?

Wingman by Michael S. Vassel is wonderfully written, with a steady pacing that captured my attention and kept me intrigued from the first chapter to the last. The characters were well-developed, and the thought-provoking work prompted me to think about marriage, long-term relationships, and the importance of having a strong social network. It also captures the importance of self-reflection as we help others achieve their goals. Michael utilized suspense effectively, and I also loved the vivid description of events and emotions, which helped create a mental picture of what was happening. The reader will also appreciate the seamless flow of the plot, which ensures no room for confusion. I look forward to reading something else by this talented author.
