In Without You by Reylynn Purdue, instead of getting ready to go to Julliard like she planned, Roxy is dealing with unimaginable pain that is consuming her. Since she found her mom’s body and then found her boyfriend in bed with someone else not too long afterward, she hasn’t been the same. She just wants the pain to go away, but it’s not. She keeps looking for ways to ease the pain, but it’s only temporary. It always comes back. Then, he walks into her life. He seems to be able to make her forget and actually smile a genuine smile, but Roxy is having a hard time letting go of the past and allowing herself to move on and be happy.
What a roller coaster ride of emotions! This book had me literally crying one minute, having butterflies in my stomach with a huge smile on my face the next, and completely irritated and wanting to punch a wall at other times. Roxy can be stubborn and frustrating, but you can’t blame her; she has been through a lot. And I found myself completely relating to her. Her feelings, thoughts, and behavior are absolutely understandable. Plus, with an absent father, an overprotective brother, her brother’s best friend who is equally protective and who she used to have a huge crush on, a crazy best friend, a new guy with definite potential, and an ex she wishes she could forget, she clearly has a lot to deal with. Not only did I enjoy the characters, but I also enjoyed the plot. It was exciting, unpredictable, and surprisingly had me on the edge of my seat. And talk about a cliffhanger! Without You is an absolute must-read. I will be literally counting down the days until the next book in the series comes out. Reylynn Purdue, you have gained a new and loyal fan.
