C.L. Holliday-Firmin’s You Can Have Your Cake And Grandparents Too! is a joyful children’s picture book involving one little boy’s family and his grandparents. Each grandparent is given their moment to shine in this lovely brightly colorful book as the young grandson feels he may have to choose just one. The book is beautifully illustrated by artist Gull Zareen. The colors explode on the page and will surely keep the attention of many young readers. The narrative feels very close to home. You can’t help but rewind your own life and think back to the grandparents that you had while growing up, or the ones that you may still have.
You Can Have Your Cake And Grandparents Too! by C.L. Holliday-Firmin brought parts of my family that no longer exist back to life for me. You can feel the love coming out of the pages for this young grandson and the love that he had for his grandparents as well. It always amazes me how words and images can resurrect a gamut of emotions in only a small number of pages. That is exactly what the author has accomplished, for it is a book that will not only make you feel, but it will make you think and remember back to the days that meant the most. That is why books like this are a treasure to come across and should be shared with everyone.
