In 12 Hours of Daylight: A Jason Jules Novella by Tameka Mullins, readers take a short peek into the life of Jason Jules, titular main character and porn star with a heart of gold. As someone who seems to have it all, at least in the erotic department, Jason still feels an absence in his heart after the loss of Vickie, the love of his life, who died after giving birth to twins. Aware that his job is very unconventional, he sees it as the most lucrative way to provide for his children, but as they grow he begins to wonder if that life is the only option for him. Until he meets Amira, a sexy brown woman with whom he can share his deepest thoughts and intimacies. She doesn't know of his night life and soon his two worlds will collide in a way he never thought possible.
I really enjoyed 12 Hours of Daylight: A Jason Jules Novella by Tameka Mullins. She gives readers a peek into the backstage of a job of which most only have a voyeuristic view. Jason could have been the typical alpha male that proliferates the genre. Instead, Mullins gives him a deeper, softer personality as we delve into his painful back story as well as his hopes and dreams for the future.
While I really enjoyed 12 Hours of Daylight by Tameka Mullins, it did feel less like a novella and more of a slice of life. There wasn't much of a traditional story arc and the dialog at time feels a little wooden. Still, I found myself drawn to Jason’s story and thinking about him and his family long after the book was over. Tameka Mullins' 12 Hours of Daylight is a refreshing change to the genre and is sure to pique the interest of fans of hot and loving romance.
