Silver Press's 52 Devotions for a Purposeful Retirement: Faith, Renewal and Meaning for Women is an engaging book that can be a significant help for newly retired women. Transitioning from a busy lifestyle with deadlines and appointments into one that is quiet and undemanding can be bewildering and disconcerting. With weekly devotions and inspiring lessons, this heartwarming book spiritually guides and supports you as you move into an unfamiliar way of living. Broken down into sections, including Bible verses relating to the week's lesson and ending with a heartfelt prayer, you learn to pause and listen to your inner self. If your newfound freedom leaves you with too much time on your hands or you cram your days with unfulfilling tasks, this uplifting devotional is a valuable asset as you journey to a life enriched with peace and purpose.
Silver Press's 52 Devotions for a Purposeful Retirement is an inspiring devotional with a Christian influence. Based on biblical elements, the book is thought-provoking and is impeccably written. The formatting of the five different segments flows together nicely and is a pleasure to read. Starting with a Bible verse and ending with a prayer gives the reader a firm spiritual foundation to rely on during the week. Newly retired myself, I found the book meditative and inspirational. I love how it encourages the reader to practice the lessons from each week at their leisure while motivating them to seek and enjoy peaceful moments. Even though this is written for women who are retiring, I believe it has many aspects that will also be a valuable asset to those women who are experiencing “empty nest syndrome.”
