In a truly inspirational tale of one man's journey, A Better Man by author Rick Steber follows the story of Dave Franke. Dave, a cowboy at heart, was also the leader of a very successful construction company. At the height of the building boom, it seemed as if he could do no wrong. But when the Great Recession hit and interest rates rose to 24%, everything came crashing down. Alone in the desert, trying to piece together the shattered fragments of his life, Dave encounters a war over his soul. Will God or the devil win out?
I very much enjoyed author Rick Steber's telling of Dave Franke's tale. It grabbed me from the very first page, and I simply could not put this book down. It's a relatively short read, and one that most readers should be able to get through in a few hours. Author Steber has done a fantastic job at describing the environment and surroundings so well that the reader will feel as if they are in the desert with Dave, heart in throat. His direct story telling style is both honest, unique, and a style that most readers will find pointed and refreshing at the same time. A Better Man will appeal to any reader who loves true stories of redemption with a strong Christian focus. I am pleased to recommend this book. I am very much looking forward to reading more of Rick Steber's work in the very near future.
