In the ongoing battle to keep America's children safe from the machinations of traffickers, molesters, and other undesirables, some individuals have made this mission their top priority. One of those individuals is Trevor Kane. He puts the experience and discipline he gained during his military service to excellent use in catching these undesirables before they cause irreparable harm. During his storied career, he has encountered his fair share of unusual cases, but none more disturbing than the one involving the Donovan brothers. Trevor walks us through a case that left a lasting mark on him in Scotty Miller's Call Us Daddy.
Scotty Miller's focus on Trevor's military service and family life makes it easy to understand why he takes his job almost fanatically seriously. Miller deserves credit for subtly showing how Trevor's work life has affected his relationship with his wife, a relatable scenario some perceptive readers will recognize. The author pairs an extensive explanation of the evidence-gathering and subsequent judicial processes with excerpts from the Donovans' digital devices, educating readers about the methods some of these predators use while immersing them in the victims' ordeals, as if they had to go through it themselves. Miller's detail-oriented style in Call Us Daddy draws readers into the world of child predators on a personal level and teaches parents that no matter how much one may try to keep their children away from harm, the biggest miscalculation one can make is believing you have done enough and lowering your guard. I encourage everyone to read this book, because the information in it could be the difference between life and death.
