Jaxon Quin gradually develops a change of heart when he receives a parcel containing evidence indicting his client, mob boss Vincent Morello, for a gruesome murder. His conscience pricks him even more, seeing as he just aided Vincent to beat murder charges and walk out of court a free man. The final straw for the young lawyer happens to be the blatantly disrespectful way Vincent handles his domestic affairs. Jaxon wants to do something about this, but knows that a man with a reputation as violent as Vincent's does not go easy on people he considers traitors. Only time will tell if Jaxon will do the right thing when faced with Vincent's talent for staying a step ahead of the opposition in A Dying Oath by Charlene E. Edwards.
Charlene E. Edwards uses carefully crafted dialogue to highlight the battle of wills that defines A Dying Oath. Jaxon's well-placed monologues emphasize his motivation for entering the legal profession while subtly contrasting his style of doing business with that of his father. This unique combination offers readers a detailed origin story embedded in a narrative that pulls them into the action from the very first page. The author sharpens the suspense with a storytelling approach that blends Vincent's memorable one-liners aimed at Jaxon with veiled references to how the mob boss handles problems like this. This technique engages suspense fans, encouraging them to draw their own conclusions using carefully placed clues to decide whether Vincent is the real threat in this gripping thriller. The author enhances these elements with rapid pacing and a romantic triangle that will challenge perceptive readers to think outside the box to decipher. Edwards delivers a masterpiece with this offering.
