A Journey Around Our Solar System by Edward Hughes is the second installment in the Wonders of Science Mini Book Series and is designed to help the young reader explore our vast solar system and the universe far beyond it. Each section walks you through its developmental stages and evolution in a way that’s extremely easy to understand, especially for a beginner. The creation of our solar system, the sun, planets, their gases, other ‘alien’ solar systems, and even types of space telescopes are just some of the topics covered, as well as a great reference and resource section filled with information, organizations, and websites.
A Journey Around Our Solar System by Edward Hughes isn’t just a book…it is truly a journey! Right away I was lured in by the great cover and amazing, colorful illustrations. I was immediately intrigued. There is so much to learn about the universe and I was happily surprised by the amount of information and science between the pages of this to-the-point book. I honestly learned a ton of valuable and fascinating information about each of the planets and their moons, but the entire planet Mars section was definitely my personal favorite. It was also interesting to learn about the different belts and the differences between comets and asteroids. I’d actually always wondered about that. The graphs and images were nothing short of fantastic and the writing is superb. This is a great read and I give A Journey Around Our Solar System a well-deserved five stars!
