A Rainbow Adventure: Learning the Colours of the Rainbow by Mara Mae takes young readers on a whimsical journey through a vibrant world where colors come alive and dreams can come true. Guided by a cheerful rainbow, the adventurers travel through the lively places of each hue, like Red’s Fiery Forest and Orange’s Citrus Grove, each one bursting with its own special charm. The story celebrates the beauty and wonder of discovering the colors around us, from sunny meadows to tranquil lakes, enchanting gardens, and starry fields. This poetic picture book offers a rainbow-themed quest perfect for curious minds eager to learn and imagine.
I really enjoyed reading A Rainbow Adventure by Mara Mae. The gentle rhyme and good pacing make the narrative soothing to read aloud, and it works well for young kids just beginning to learn colors or explore new places. The artwork stands out with delightful, vibrant scenes that capture the fun and intrigue of the magical rainbow. From an educator’s perspective, this book would fit perfectly into lessons about colors, nature, and storytelling. Teachers can use it to kick off projects on rainbows and weather and to spark discussions about what real treasures in our lives look like. Asking students to describe their favorite scenes or create rainbow collages would be great ways to extend it in the classroom. Dolly Parton once said, “If you want a rainbow, you gotta put up with a little rain,” but this book doesn’t need any rain to see a rainbow or the enchantment a child feels when reading it.
