Author Biography

The daughter of an entrepreneur, Jean saw the only limitations you have are the ones you put on yourself. In the early 60s, her father owned his own cab in NY, which was unusual for a Black man armed with a tenth grade education.

Jean's debut novel Ace of Hearts started in 1980, in answer to a bet, yet it wasn't published until 2007. Two years later, Black Jack was released and Deuces Wild's release date was on her 60th birthday! She is now working on Full House, book 4 of her Deck of Cardz series. The moral of her story: Never give up your dream.

Jean now lives in Kennesaw, GA with her husband, Fred and their dogs, Kayla, a Lhasa Apso and Max, an Afghan. Their six grown children all live nearby. They have ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jean is now the managing partner of her publishing house, PHE Ink - Writing Solutions Firm.

Detective Shevaughn Robinson had a lot of obstacles to overcome. She was not only a woman, a black woman, but she was also working in a “man’s world”. She has a new partner, a new case, and a new man in her life. There was a serial killer on the loose. He mutilated his victims. Could Von find the killer without losing her own life?

Wow!! Jean Holloway’s Ace of Hearts is an action-packed thriller. This story grabbed my attention from the first page and did not let go. My only criticism was toward the end. I wondered if Ms. Holloway was having a problem deciding what to do with the killer. Ace of Hearts has a cliffhanger ending ,setting the opening for a new story staring Shevaughn Robinson. All in all, this is a great read. I enjoyed the suspense. I would have liked to see more of Ariel. Well done, Jean. Fans of suspense, thrillers, and romance will want to read Ace of Hearts.

This is a surprisingly enticing debut novel by Mrs. Jean Holloway. This book takes you on a HIGHLY charged emotional rollercoaster ride! It is a FRIGHTENINGLY suspense-filled, romantic murder mystery with LOADS of heart stopping twist and turns that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. I must thank one of my girlfriends for recommending this book, because had she not I would have missed this thrilling ride. The characters were quite engaging. The storyline was well developed and the attention to detail made me feel like I was watching a very entertaining, yet spine-chilling movie. I found myself completely and thoroughly caught up in the drama of Detective Shevaughn Robinson's life, professional and personal. The sensual, yet endearing romance between Shevaughn and Tony aided in lightening the mood of an otherwise intense and sometimes disturbing erotic thriller. Tony was a sweet, good looking, compassionate, thoughtful and protective man, who wanted to help his woman in EVERY aspect of her life, professionally and personally. I also enjoyed the budding new partnership/friendship between Shevaughn and Detective Jared Benjamin, he was like the overprotective big brother she never had. Mrs. Holloway DEFINITELY keeps you in suspense throughout this novel, when you think you know what's going to happen, she'll shock you with an unexpected twist and/or turn. I hope she's able to keep me just as captivated with the upcoming sequel!

The year--1981. The town--Portsborough, NY. The theme--murder!

Ace of Hearts begins with a page-turning scene in which you witness the first murderous act of a serial killer who charms women, then kills them in an unspeakable manner.

Enter Shevaughn Robinson, Portsborough's first black female detective. Shevaughn is assigned to the case, which quickly becomes a media frenzy as more bodies start popping up. In her quest to solve the murders, she's aided by Tony O'Brien, a good-looking reporter who shows her that there's more to life than murder cases. As Shevaugn digs deeper into the "Ace of Hearts" murders, the killer becomes obsessed with her...to fatal consequences.

This book was fast-paced and eerily exciting. I felt guilty for wanting more because it's such a wicked thing the killer does to his victims. But I think that's the mark of a good book, when the writer can take the reader out of their comfort zone and still have them captivated, and that's what Ms. Holloway does throughout the book! If you're looking for a tidy, cookie-cutter-ending, this book isn't for you (when a book opens with murder, you know things can't end well!). Ms. Holloway wraps it up with a clever twist that will leave you wondering what will happen next to Dectective Robinson!

Jean Holloway has written an engrossing debut novel and I look forward to her next book!

I stopped watching scary movies for the same reason I could not put this book down. REALISM! With each paged turn, details were vivid and awestuck. I was afraid to put it down or pick it up! That's the way I love my horror.

I can't wait her next work... be cautious. Read it in the daytime!!!

I just finished this book about a week ago and was very impressed. Ms. Holloway is a new author and should be proud of her new book. It had a great story line and was very erotic, especially for a murder mystery. I love murder mysteries and have never come across one as detailed and sensual as this one. I will definately recommend this to my friends.

This book was truly captivating. I really appreciated the fact that this book was a mystery and an erotic thriller, they went very nicely hand and hand. The imagery was so intense, and I think Holloway executed the descriptions of her characters wonderfully. The characters are well thought out and i found myself becoming very attached to the characters. I laughed, teared and cringed. This book has a little bit of everything in it and i was very pleased.

At the age of thirty-one, Detective Shevaughn Robinson is finally being promoted to the Homicide Division of the 23rd precinct in Portsborough, New York.
As a black, female detective in the police force in 1981, Shevaughn has to keep her `game face on' at all times while being mindful of those who are waiting for her to slip up and confirm that a women `shouldn't try to do a man's job!'.
The night before she is officially a part of the Homicide Division, Shevaughn gets to investigate her first murder case.
The killer, soon to be known as "Ace of Hearts", does atrocious things to the women he kills and leaves Shevaughn with a sense of...

Bravo for Ms. Holloway's debut novel! I was drawn in from the very beginning and didn't want it end. Her imagination really shines in this tale of murder, mystery and romance. I could picture each scene in my mind due to the diligence used in describing each one. I also felt like I really knew the heroine of the story. I found myself experiencing each emotion she must have felt as she tried to gain respect as a detective while also dealing with some personal issues. Ms. Holloway definitely set the bar high for herself and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
