In Alligator River by Jackson Banks, two college boys found the mutilated body of a woman in an old hunting cabin. Brandon Maddox was called to the scene as they thought an animal was responsible. Maddox waited with the boys until Detective Tunstall arrived. Everything showed that the victim had been murdered. They found a machete with the fingerprints of Jeremy Martin, and he was arrested for the murder. Maddox then found evidence showing that Jeremy was not the killer and handed it over to Detective Tunstall, who destroyed it because he felt that the killer was already in custody. Attorney Chase was defending Jeremy, and he did not believe that Jeremy was responsible for the murder. When another victim is found, everything points to the fact that they have a serial killer on their hands.
The plot in Alligator River by Jackson Banks is exciting. Someone is arrested for murder but later there is proof that he was innocent. The story is fast-paced and easy to follow. The action and suspense make it very powerful. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the next event. It was a real nail-biting experience. The characters were authentic and each one had an interesting background. They were relatable and skillfully handled. My favorite character is Maddox. He had retired from this type of investigation but still made sure that justice was served. He and Chase did everything to find the killer. Banks has a gift for writing and this story is so real that I felt part of it.
