Wizardry Goes Wild by Sunayna Prasad is Book 2 of Alyssa McCarthy’s Magical Missions. Alyssa McCarthy has finally got her life back to normal when magic strikes again. This time, Errol, a depressed skeleton, causes Alyssa to be cursed and, although she can perform magic, she can’t control it. Mishaps abound with disaster everywhere Alyssa turns, and the only way she can remove these powers is if she can become more confident and brave. That is easier said than done though, especially when she has to use a Skillometer to measure her confidence and bravery. Can Alyssa rid herself of these magical powers or is she destined to be cursed forever?

Alyssa McCarthy’s Magical Missions Book 2: Wizardry Goes Wild by Sunayna Prasad is a mixture of magic and modern. This is a well-written story, following on from Alyssa’s adventures in book 1 (which I did not read). I felt that although I hadn’t read the first book, my enjoyment was not impaired because there is plenty of description that helped me to understand the background. The character development was sufficient for a second book in a series and, although I found this an enjoyable read, I would recommend that anyone who wants to read it starts with book 1 first. There is plenty of action here, an almost never-ending supply of it as Alyssa comes to terms with her powers and simultaneously works to rid herself of them. There is also a serious side to the story as it teaches young readers about the importance of bravery and confidence in real life. Recommended reading for all young adults and a thoroughly enjoyable story.

Alyssa McCarthy's Magical Missions: Wizardry Goes Wild by Sunayna Prasad is the second book in the series. Alyssa McCarthy has spent the last few months adjusting to her new normal life with her godfather, Alex, but all that changes when a skeleton called Errol curses her. Now she can never control her sorcery, which means her enchantments come at the worse possible times. Facing the consequences for her ill timed enchantments, Alyssa also has to find a way to be brave enough to control her magic and to stop Errol's plan to come back to life. Can she save herself before it's too late?

Sunayna Prasad has a strong young heroine in Alyssa who struggles with ordinary kid problems like being responsible and school, just with the added addition that she also has out of control magic. Yet Alyssa is easy to relate to. She gets frustrated, misunderstood, and uses the obstacles she goes up against to discover her strength. Alyssa is a modern heroine, with today's technology, but it's sidelined to her struggles with magic. Most of the magical situations seem to tie back to how Alyssa handles her school life, include the escaped animals from the magical zoo, which are an eccentric and fun part of the story. The novel is aimed at young adults, but the wonder filled perspective with the bizarre characters is appealing for all ages. Wizardry Goes Wild is a whimsical, delightful, and creative journey through a child's perspective, capturing the otherworldly imagination with charm.
