Windy Situ's Beneath the Flowing Peak is a mesmerizing collection of poems that cover a wide range of ideas and themes. Written in both English and Mandarin, these poems take the reader on a journey of self-discovery and introspection through a diverse spectrum of tonal and thematic landscapes. The poems are divided into four parts, which include "Celestial and Myth," "Each and All," "Castle of Glass," and "New Divide." Search for light and meaning in the midst of darkness. Witness an extraordinary friendship between an ancient beast and a young boy. Immerse yourself in mythical stories and lore, as well as contemplative poetry about the world, nature, and humanity. Travel back in time through the memories of the past, and much more.
If you're a poetry aficionado who enjoys surreal narratives based on existential themes, Beneath the Flowing Peak is the book for you. Author Windy Situ's poetic storytelling is not only beautiful but also makes you think about the world around you long after you've finished reading. This collection calls for a reread. You will want to revisit this book over and over again. Most of Situ's poems seem intimate, yet the universal themes explored ensure that readers of all kinds will resonate with her poetry. Some of these poetic narratives feel almost abstract at times, but I still found them very immersive. The fact that the author has chosen to present this collection in two languages means it will appeal to readers both in the East and the West. Overall, it's a fantastic collection for poetry lovers.
