Author Biography

Olha Valeriivna Smulska was born in 1994. From early childhood, she discovered the power of words — writing poems in nature, under the song of birds and the murmur of a stream or river. The forest was her inspiration: its fairytale beauty, the rustle of leaves, and its mysterious inhabitants created a special world she longed to preserve on paper. A notebook and pen were always nearby — ready to receive new lines. Nature heals and inspires creativity.

In 2023, she wrote her first book for her daughter — “The Magical Tale about Princess Dominika.” It is a warm and sincere story in which the real events of the little princess’s birth come to life. The idea appeared during pregnancy — a magical and deeply creative time in a woman’s life.

Later, the author turned to a theme loved by both adults and children — stories about pirates. Thus, her new work was born: a dynamic, captivating, and fantastical novel unlike any other. She dreams that this story will become as beloved by readers as the legendary “Pirates of the Caribbean” combined with “Fast & Furious,” and believes that one day someone will bring this tale to life on the big screen.

Bermuda Pirates in New York: Part II - City Under the Cliffs by Olha Smulska is an exciting continuation of Dominika, her father, Black Smoke, and their crew's adventures. This fantasy novel is a captivating journey through time, blending historical settings with magical elements. The story begins with Dominika’s desire to reunite with her father, Black Smoke, and develops into an epic voyage across oceans and centuries. From navigating dangerous waters to uncovering ancient secrets in Bermuda’s caves, the story is packed with action, mystery, moments of reflection, and good old-fashioned storytelling.

Olha Smulska vividly brings to life the bustling streets of 1725 New York, the towering cliffs of Bermuda, and the enchanted city of elves hidden within the island’s caves. The writing captures the essence of each setting, and well-developed characters, each with their own quirks and personalities, add humor to the story. The style is smooth and engaging, making this a delightful read for young readers and fantasy enthusiasts. The pacing is well-balanced, with moments of excitement alternating with quieter, emotional scenes that highlight the characters' bonds. City Under the Cliffs is a story of friendship, family, and the spirit of adventure. It reminds readers of the importance of loyalty and the joy of discovering new worlds while staying true to one’s roots. It’s not necessary to have read the first book to follow this one, but for those who enjoy pirates and adventure, the first is equally entertaining. I look forward to subsequent installments.
