Author Biography

Olha Smulska was born in 1994. From early childhood, she discovered the power of words, writing poems inspired by nature, the songs of birds, and the sounds of streams and rivers. Rain and summer downpours have always inspired her with new ideas, while nature still remains a source of peace, creativity, and strength.

I am a Ukrainian author whose books were written during the war in Ukraine. In 2023, I wrote my first book for my daughter — The Magical Tale about Princess Dominika. It is a warm and sincere story based on real events connected with the birth of my little princess. The idea came to me during pregnancy — a magical and deeply creative period of my life.

The war changed the lives of millions of Ukrainians. Like many other people, I felt exhaustion, anxiety, and uncertainty. That is why I wanted to create an adventure story that could give readers laughter, hope, and the opportunity to escape from difficult thoughts, even if only for a short while.

Thus, the novel Pirates of Bermuda in New York was born — a humorous fantasy adventure story filled with unexpected twists, friendship, courage, and exciting events. I wrote it with the sincere hope of lifting the spirits of people going through difficult times, both in Ukraine and in other countries around the world.

I dream that my stories will find readers in many countries, bring joy and positive emotions, and inspire people never to lose faith in a better future.

Bermuda Pirates in New York: Part II - City Under the Cliffs by Olha Smulska is an exciting continuation of Dominika, her father, Black Smoke, and their crew's adventures. This fantasy novel is a captivating journey through time, blending historical settings with magical elements. The story begins with Dominika’s desire to reunite with her father, Black Smoke, and develops into an epic voyage across oceans and centuries. From navigating dangerous waters to uncovering ancient secrets in Bermuda’s caves, the story is packed with action, mystery, moments of reflection, and good old-fashioned storytelling.

Olha Smulska vividly brings to life the bustling streets of 1725 New York, the towering cliffs of Bermuda, and the enchanted city of elves hidden within the island’s caves. The writing captures the essence of each setting, and well-developed characters, each with their own quirks and personalities, add humor to the story. The style is smooth and engaging, making this a delightful read for young readers and fantasy enthusiasts. The pacing is well-balanced, with moments of excitement alternating with quieter, emotional scenes that highlight the characters' bonds. City Under the Cliffs is a story of friendship, family, and the spirit of adventure. It reminds readers of the importance of loyalty and the joy of discovering new worlds while staying true to one’s roots. It’s not necessary to have read the first book to follow this one, but for those who enjoy pirates and adventure, the first is equally entertaining. I look forward to subsequent installments.
