“Blood Gospel” is another epic accomplishment by James Rollins, in partnership with Rebecca Cantrell. Archaeologist Dr. Erin Granger has just unearthed evidence of the mass slaughter of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of infants in ancient Caesarea, when a sudden earthquake disturbs the site, damaging artifacts, and spooking the horses. Many miles away, atop Mount Masada, hundreds of tourists are killed when the same earthquake literally splits the mountain in two, releasing a toxic gas, and sparing only a single young boy. Revealed within the split mountain is a long-hidden underground sanctuary, containing the crucified remains of a very young girl, and a lone, empty sarcophagus. Israeli military send a helicopter to escort Dr. Granger to the Masada site, regardless of her wishes, where she is introduced to U.S. Army Ranger Sargent Jordan Stone, and the very reclusive priest, Father Rhun Korza. These three are about to set out in search of a book known only as “the Blood Gospel”. Their search will take them from Israel to Germany to Russia to Rome, fighting for their very lives every step of the way. The future of life on Earth depends on their success.

You won’t want to miss a word of this phenomenal narrative. “Blood Gospel”, like so many of James Rollins’s exciting and comprehensive historical fictions, has a startlingly credible feel to it. You will lose sleep reading “Blood Gospel” because you will not want to put it down, no matter how late the time, and no matter what obligations await you the following morning. “Blood Gospel” is an outstanding depiction of an imaginary world and events very persuasively presented.
