Blue Solace (New Bonus Content 2017 Edition) by Angela Dawn Staten definitely has a lot of surprising moments that will delight fans of the genre. The concept of dead people rising and shadows and vampires hunting amongst them was a curious one for me. Then there is Raven, a woman who just died recently and whom both the most notorious of vampires and the shadows are pining to have. Lucas and Leon are doing all they can to protect Raven because, it seems, the future of their world could depend on her, especially at a time when the dead are rising and vampires and shadows are more hungry and determined to cause as much havoc as possible.

Blue Solace is well-paced, and it is engaging. The author begins the story with powerful descriptions of a vampire feeding and the reader is connected with the spirit of the story right off the bat. The cemetery becomes a very symbolic place in the vivid setting, captured in well-crafted descriptions. The use of short chapters and shifts in points of view between the different characters create interest in readers. It is interesting to notice the unusual combination of literary elements such as suspense, humor, and contrast. The characters come alive in this fast-paced story and readers will want to follow them. Angela Dawn Staten’s prose is excellent and she comes across as a great storyteller. Her writing reflects a rich and creative imagination, a work that will delight many readers.

Blue Solace: (New Bonus Content 2017 Edition) by Angela Dawn Staten is a well-crafted fantasy that will appeal, undoubtedly, to fans of novels featuring creatures of the night. Let me warn readers that there are some graphic descriptions in this book that may not sit well with readers who are not into violence or descriptions of things that are gory. The dead are rising, and vampires are thriving, taking their night game to a whole new level. Both vampires and shadows are keen on Raven, a newly risen, and it’s up to Leon and Lucas to save Raven from the vampires and the shadows, because she is their only hope of surviving the evil that is about the overrun their world. The question is: Can they outwit the cunning vampires and their insatiable thirst?

This is the first fantasy novel I have read by Angela Dawn Staten, and I must say that I was pleased with the writing. It flows with grace. Her narrative voice is unique and she has used a beautiful style to work on the points of view, shifting the narrative perspective from chapter to chapter to allow readers the chance to experience the story through the minds of her characters. This style also creates a thrilling sense of suspense which makes the read very interesting. The suspense gets the reader immersed in the story, wanting to know what happens to the characters as they move from one episode to the next. The characters are well-developed and, even though they are not ordinary humans, readers will easily connect with them. Blue Solace is a fast-paced story, episodic, and animated by a powerful conflict.

Step into the world of the paranormal with Blue Solace by Angela Dawn Staten and her exciting tale of vampires, shadows and zombies. This is the story of Leon, Lucas and Raven. Lucas and Leon are cousins and Vampire Hunters and they live in a world where the end is very near. There is one person who can save them all and that person is a mysterious woman called Raven. Needless to say, the creatures of the dark, vampires and shadows, want to get rid of her as soon as possible. Leon, the seer and genius, saw Raven die and since his visions are never wrong, he is pretty sure that there is nothing that they can do that will save her. But that does not mean he and Lucas will not try. However, the creatures of the dark are not the only threat to humanity and Raven. There is a far more deadly enemy rising and imminent steps need to be taken, regardless of the casualties and risks. With an enemy so strong and potent, what can Lucas and Leon do to save Raven and save humanity at the same time? Something and someone has to give; would that be Raven or someone else?

What can I say about Blue Solace? It is an exhilarating and heart racing tale that will make you want more. I loved the way it was written. Angela Dawn Staten made sure that the reader will stay hooked to the story from the Prologue and will not stop until they reach the end. The story is definitely a little dark, but it fits in perfectly with the theme of the novel. It is absolutely brilliant and the cover looks really amazing! There is absolutely everything right with this novel and I cannot wait for the second part to find out what happens next.
