Fans of Phillip Margolin will be thrilled with the return of two of their favorite characters: Brad and Dana Miller. However, they are not the only characters fans will recognize: serial killer Clarence Little is back along with Brad’s wife Ginny and Dana’s friend, Jake. The plot of "Capitol Murder" mimics life. Rarely do we concentrate solely on one thing. Usually we have many things happening at once as happens in the plot of this book. "Capitol Murder" offers three major plot lines at once. Phillip Margolin skillfully weaves the plots together to create a smooth yet fast paced read.
Plot 1. Clarence Little: In "Capitol Murder", Clarence Little is seeking new trials on two of the murders for which he was convicted and sentenced to prison. Although Brad helps with overturning one conviction he hopes Little is never released from prison.
Plot 2. Terrorist: Ginny begins working for the Department of Justice. She discovers a vital piece of information as she collates paperwork on a terrorism case. Terrorists are planning an attack on the US, this time during a sporting event.
Plot 3. Senator Jack Carson gives information to a lover who is blackmailing him. Brad is the Senator’s aid. Dana is investigating the Senator.
All three of the plots are intertwined to create a memorable tale. The prologue quickly grabbed my attention. The pace is fast and steady. The plot is interesting although at times a little unrefined. Some scenes are not for the faint of heart. There are twists and turns that will keep the reader eagerly turning the pages. Plan to stay up all night reading this one; you will find it impossible to lay it down.
